Mr.Strauss refused to get on the boat because he felt that it was just out of favoritism. His wife got on the boat but immediately got out because she said they have never got separated for one day or night. The couple found two chairs on the deck and waited for a wave to wash over them as the Titanic sank.
John Jacob Astor IV was a German-American millionaire who made his fortune in real estate. When John boarded the Titanic he was 47 years old, his wife was very young. John was also offered a spot on the lifeboat but refused. he followed the rule of women and children first. She but his wife that was believed to be ill at the time in a boat and said his goodbyes.
