There were 8 main officers that served on the Titanic. The captain of the ship was Commander Edward John Smith. He was 62 years old and was born in Hanley, Stoke-on-Tent, and Staffordshire England. Captain Smith could have survived but chose to follow the Captains law, which is that every captain must go down with his ship. The Chief Officer of the ship was Lieutenant William McMaster Murdoch. He was 39 years of age and was born in Walton, Lancashire, England. During the sinking of the ship, Murdoch was loading people into lifeboats and died in the act. Next, was 1st officer Lieutenant Henry Tingle Wilde. He was 39 years old and was born in DalBeattie Kirk cud bright shire. He also died with the sinking ship. Sub-Lieutenant Charles Herbert was age 38 and was born in Netley, Hampshire, England. He was the 2nd officer. Charles was one of the four officers that survived and was placed on lifeboat B. Mr. Herbert John Pitman was 34 years of age and his hometown was Castle Cary, Somerset, England. He was the 3rd officer and he was placed on lifeboat 5 and survived. Sub-Lieutenant Joseph Groves was 28 years old and his hometown was Hull, Yorkshire, England. He was the 4th officer and one of the survivors on lifeboat 2. Sub-Lieutenant Harold Godfrey was 29 years old, hometown was Bar mouth, Merionethshire, Wales, he was the 5th officer, and was a survivor aboard life boat 14. Last but not the least was Mr. James Paul Moody age of 24. He was born and raised in Grimpsy, Lincolnshire, England. Mr. James was the 6th officer but sadly, he did not survive.
